The article is from Heifer magazine and is story in a about a woman in Nepal where women have had little resources, rights or decision making power over their lives for centuries.
I’d like to introduce you to this lovely successful woman that overcame all those odds and more. Ganga Khanal will inspire you with her successful journey from poverty to a respected and honored member of her community.

The only reason I know about Ganga is that NMA, my corporation, is a sponsor of Heifer International. Heifer is an organization that raises funds to supply animals to the impoverished peoples of the world and teaches them how to raise these animals for money. As part of the training and raising of the animals, there is an agreement that the offspring of the animals are to be given to members of their community so others can learn. They actually have a formal ceremony where the animals are given to the next family. A powerful and emotional ceremony which completes the cycle of providing for families; learning how to raise the animals and earn money with them and providing the same pride and hope to others within their communities.
Ganga not only has participated in these learning cycles, but has become a spokeswoman for hundreds of other women within her country.
I wanted to share this story with you because as a woman business owner, there are days when everything seems to hard and too much. Ganga is now my hero and my absolute motivator.
You will love meeting her and her sisters of Nepal.
