Darn it! After all the work, research, relationship building and prep,
they still said NO. And you know what, I am annoyed.
What I really want to know, is why is it so very hard to have someone
tell us NO?
My coach (yes I have a coach) would tell me “Natalie, it is not a big deal,
just move on”. He would also say something really intelligent like “That no
gets you closer to a yes”.
Well, right now I want to wallow in the feelings of NO, so here goes.
1. I don’t want anyone to tell me no. Not after all the work I have done
to get them to yes. I have been my very best and it still did not work.
It hurts. Ok, so I had already spent the money in my head, but it still hurts.
2. I don’t want to hurt. I want to be joyful and excited and hopeful and
to feel really confident that what I am doing is working and valuable and
needed and a contribution and and and
3. I want some guarantees here that the next wonderful relationship
building process and sales process is going to be successful so I don’t
have to be disappointed and a big pouty baby.
No such luck.
If I want to continue to have the freedom to run my business which
includes the following:
• Run my business my way
• Coach and consult the clients I want to coach and consult with
• Work the hours I choose
• Deal with the vendors I trust
• Have the amazing talented staff that I have
• Work my finances my way to build my future
• Take pride in the products I develop; the content that I do
keynotes on; deal at the leadership level I choose
Then every now and then I will hear a big NO!
What do you do when you hear NO?
I hope you get to go through a similar process that I just did…find the
joy in what you do; why you do it; and the value that you offer.
My clients are the best people on this earth. They are success seeking
missiles who spend huge chunks of time getting to the place where they
are really clear and confident on how to be their most effective self.
Every now and then they have a big disappointment where they need to vent,
maybe even get their hand held for a bit, then they reconnect to their value
and joy and off they go again to cure, fix or handle what they are best at.
How could I do less? How could you?
Ok, so the NO I heard today really does get me closer to the next yes.
What the NO also did for me was to help me stop and think about why
I am doing what I am doing anyway.
Here it is: “I am a Business Mastery Coach that helps my clients get clear,
get confident and be effective faster than they ever have before.”
You know what, I love that and I am really good at it too.
Blessings and Success To You,
Natalie
