This was one of the hardest lessons for me to learn. It also can be said to “pay yourself first.” For many years, I did not invest financially or in time for myself. I bought discounted clothes, on sale furniture, year old cars, day old bread, and two-for-one food specials. None of these habits were harmful in themselves. In fact, I saved lots of money. However, I forgot to put me first because my thought pattern was only about discounts and savings. It took me years to finally buy a Jones of New York suit. I still have it. I look great in it and it goes anywhere. My idea of investing also changed around investing in assets that supported me.
