Note from Natalie: Are You Getting Ready "To Be", Or Are You "Being"?My love and blessings, NatalieMy Mother’s Day could not have been better. I got to spend the day with lots of time planting flowers, in sticky dirt, with intermittent rain showers and my beloved eldest daughter. The wind blew so hard a couple of times, I did not know whether I should be moving down into my basement. It was nice to have a basement to run to in case I had to.
My point in bringing up Mother’s Day is that it went by so quickly. There were 3 weeks of ads of “stuff” you could buy me (a mother) and then it was the day. The day before had so much anticipation for so many people preparing for their Mother’s own day – or thinking about their mom – and then it was Monday.
The analogy for me is very important for my success practices. Am I spending time getting ready being successful and powerful, or am I being successful and powerful now? It’s a good question. Someone very bright said that a successful life is not a destination, but the whole journey.
The article this week is about your daily habits and practices around “being” so that you can be successful today…powerful today…influential today. As you practice these skills they accumulate. Soon you are loaded with workable, finely tuned and easily demonstrated success skills.
Sweet greetings to each one of you.

Success@The-Roadmap.com ******************************************************************************************* Feature Article: You Are Your Own Best "Success" ExpertEach of us has a title, Mom, executive, teacher, brother, leader. And with each of these titles, comes expectations of what we should know and how we should be acting if we are “really good at it” …the title we have been given. And so many of us have multiple titles:
Mom, business women, community activist, churchgoer, gardener
Brother, helper of younger siblings, college professor, donates time to needy, golfer and husband
Teacher, parent, volunteer, rock climber, deep caring for kids, second job as retail manager
The combinations are endless and the expectations that we have of each other and ourselves in each one of these roles is daunting. Everything we do, we must do well all of the time, each day of the week, for the whole of our lives.
Success skills come from practice and modeling those that come before us.
There are 2 million books about success and yet the most important success teachers are those that we mingle with in our chosen lives. We either model their behavior or get very clear about the fact that their behavior is not the way we want to be.
We get to the point in our life education that we KNOW what makes us successful. This knowing comes from looking back at where we have been successful and seeing the steps we took to get to that success. We truly know what we need to do each and every moment to be successful.
Because we are our “best expert” of what is most important and what we consider successful for our lives, I want to suggest that you spend some time with that expert. She/he is the keeper of your flame, the repository of your talents and the storage unit of your strengths. I think it is time for you to spend some TIME with you.
Here are some suggestions that might prove to be good places to start to spend time with the brightest resource in your world, YOU.
Find 10 minutes to a half hour every other day to be still and be quiet – some call that meditation.
Write down your thoughts from the day right before you go in and brush your teeth – Thomas Jefferson said that if we would review our day each and everyday we would find more time and retain the best of what the day brought to take to our next day.
Read stuff…novels, non-fiction, self development, history, science fiction – just read. The pleasure it brings is long lasting and it will keep your brain supple and engaged for your imagination and creativity.
Wander, walk, mosey, move - not just exercise – take a nice long mosey through your building, neighborhood, city block and see what is happening around you and see who you are in that walk.
Play in some water. It does not matter whether it is a long bath with Epsom salts or in a puddle. Water is magic at any age. In my humble opinion the best venue for water is a fast moving creek in the middle of nowhere just bubbling along.
I know as you add this kind of behavior to your life, you begin to appreciate the highly successful individual you are and you will begin to accumulate more ideas – in real time – of what is most important to you and your extraordinarily successful life.
I am going to find a good Nora Roberts book and sit in my favorite chair and fill my imagination of what is possible in the land of romance.
And what do you have in store for the successful and magnificent You?
