I had to
laugh at some of the feedback we got back detailing what you
are dealing with in your lives around stress. Some of you
are very brave to really take a look to see what you have
created as your new normal and where you can begin to
eliminate those stressors.
Not being
one that likes being outdone by anything that anyone else is
doing, I decided to share with you the stress that I am
about to cause, on purpose, in my business life.
We are
just about to change databases, a new newsletter service,
and add a totally new website for THE-ROADMAP all the while
we are launching our first holiday gift for sale through our
new systems.
For those
of you who are not business owners, this is a BIG DEAL. For
those of you who are business owners, thank you for your
sympathy and support. Send tissues.
In the
next week, everyone who is on our database while be
receiving a request to “opt in” to continue to receive
information, newsletters etc from us. If you don’t opt in –
by saying you want to continue to receive stuff from us –
you won’t receive anything again.
Why? It
is the law. We cannot continue to send you information
without your permission. It is a good law cause otherwise
you would be receiving 2,000 + spam emails a day.
So why
would all of this be stressful? Because we have the
distinct possibility that all of the time we have put into
making sure we have a database of people who want to receive
what we have to offer could just go away and you won't
opt-in.
People are
busy. Sometimes they don’t read their email unless is looks
really cool or inviting. Some people just don’t take
action.
A great
question would be “So Natalie, why the heck are you taking a
chance of losing the data and people that you have so
carefully cultivated all these years?"
Progress,
change, value, new wondrous opportunity to bring you even
more value.
We all
have to shift and change in order to grow. It is called
taking a risk, but it is based on lots and lots of hours
considering what would be best for YOU and for us. Plus,
the fact that I coach leaders just like you all the time to
take the next steps that bring the most value. It is not
always easy, but it is always a learning situation that can
teach us well.
You know,
I personally care about each person in our database. I’ve
met you through my speaking, keynotes at conferences and
associations, trainings, teleconferences and writing. This
is personal to me.
My score
card for easy technical transitions in the past two years is
not good. Really not good. So this transition is doubly
threatening because I know it is good business practice and
it will provide the greatest value I can for you, my
readers, clients and audience attendees.

I will
miss you if you don’t.
And you
will get a present too. But you will have to opt-in to get
it.
Stress,
sometimes it is taking a risk. Stress sometimes it is not
taking a risk. As a businesswomen and a 21st
Century leader I know these next steps are necessary and
valuable.
