Note from Natalie: Flooded office is a blessing? My love and blessings, P.S. See the "What's New?" section below. We are so excited!!! NatalieYou would not have believed the storm we had yesterday. Lightening actually struck a tree in my yard (yes, I am ok), it brought all the phone lines down and rocked all my office equipment. The surge protectors held and the server was not damaged. Thank you Universe.
However, my office was not so lucky for the water pouring into it. Gobs, loads, stream, buckets. It came in through the air conditioning conduit because it rained so hard, that our entire street, yards, driveways, filled with 3 inches of water and we are on FLAT ground.
You know that your life is charmed if the next day, after vacuuming out the water, moving the book cases, undoing all the cabling and moving the 800 lb wet carpeting that you know life is good…this too shall pass.
Throughout the evening and night last night, I heard ambulances throughout the town going to places that needed lots of help. I was truly thankful that I did not need them here.
I just put on my favorite music, stacked hundreds of books, dried up lots of water and did not get electrocuted figuring out the cabling.
In fact, I am pretty darn proud of myself.
A nice thing: The storm hit at 4:30pm. By the time I figured out the damage and needs for the office, it was 5:20pm. I called the local rental place to get a water vac knowing they close at 5:00pm and there on the other end of the phone was delightful Sandra. She stayed late because she KNEW people would be calling. I told her I would be there in 10 minutes.
I arrived 30 minutes later because I had to take different roads because they were all FLOODED.
Ms. Sandra waited, helped me carry the “vac thing” to my truck and off I went.
I told her today when I brought it back to her, that I hoped I never had to use her services ever again. She laughed. She new exactly what I meant.
People are just good, you know.
I am counting my blessings today and trying really hard not to look at the soggy mess that is slowing drying out.
So the article today is about: What are our blessings? What creates success? What are some really good steps to take (and be) really good care of ourselves so we can continue to “get it done” and create some outstanding results.

Feature Article: "Rest” Your Way to Outstanding ResultsIf I could be with you right now where you are, I would suggest that we both take a deep breath. Maybe even three deep breaths. Then I would suggest that we stop what we were doing and just be.
You know I have never see a job description that included:
“Must sit at your desk, with your feet up, staring into the distance,
smiling and relaxing (deep breathing suggested) – minimum
one (1) hour per day”.
Do you know the #1 way to produce creativity, confidence, profits, excellence, influence, every success characteristic we hold dear?
Do you know the #1 way to promote good health and well being?
Do you know the #1 way to create joy, happiness, relieve stress and ultimate bliss?
REST AND SLEEP.
There is no drug, therapy, food or action that is more important to our ultimate well being than rest and sleep. Resting our mind and our actions produces enormous satisfaction for the mind, body and spirit. It also allows for wildly successful creativity and productivity.
Here are several ways that you can create “rest” for yourself during your busy day so you can be creative, whole and productive. May I suggest that you put some of these ideas right into your PDA (Blackberry) so you can help remind yourself of the number one elixir for long term success…resting the mind and body so you can repair and create massive and sustainable results.
Start your day with water not coffee (caffeine). You do not have to skip your caffeine in the morning, just begin your day with a large glass of filtered water. It will help you rid yourself of any leftover night time toxins, help your metabolism get going and hydra that important body of yours.
Eat something every 3 hours. So, eating something does not give you permission to load up on only carbs. Sliced apples at 10:00am taste great and toting an apple around is easy. How about a trail mix bar with cranberries and almonds. An orange. A handful of nuts. All of this food is portable and helps to refuel that body of yours. A nice result of this snacking is that you have less of an push to overeat at regular meals.
Breath deeply. Breath at least 3 deep breaths each time you remember to do this. Now if breathing deeply feels unusual it means that most of the time you are breathing in shallow way and you can be robbing yourself of that energy. Your cells need oxygen, every second of every day. When you don’t breath deeply, your body works hard when it does not have to.
Walk around. Sometimes it feels like we are super glued to our chairs. The body needs and wants to move around. Get up and get out of your regular space, stretch a muscle or two and then rub those neck and shoulder muscles that have been parked in the same position for 3 straight hours while you worked on that important project on your computer. One of my favorite exercises at work is the wall pushup. Just lean into any wall about a foot away with your hands on the wall and replicate the push up function. I usually do 20, but 5 is good too.
Do nothing. Just do nothing. Don’t talk, walk, jog, eat, email, think. Just do nothing for a whole 5 minutes. Just be. If you have never tried this, it can be a challenge. I mean do nothing. Just sit where you are, close your eyes and do nothing. Think nothing. Just breath and sit. Ok, some people call this meditation, but it really is nothing more than a highly unused way of taking a break.
If you have not provided that kind of “rest” for yourself lately, it is time. Like all good habits, it may take a bit before you “remember” to do these things for yourself, but once you get the hang of it, you will be a “resting” guru.
Here are the guarantees from these practices: better sleep, more productive, happier, nicer skin because you are hydrating yourself, easier to be around and your creativity will be on high gear.
I think it is the paradox of life, that rest produces such high output results and sustained creativity.
See ya! I am off to walk around, breath deeply and do a few minutes of nothing.
