I am feverishly gathering the veggies that I planted earlier this year. What fun! Some of the veggies did very well and some need rethinking whether I should be one growing them. Can you believe I actually killed a squash plant? For those of you who don't garden, killing a squash plant is pretty hard to do. TN has some sort of squash blight this year. Oh well.

One thing that did so well was my dwarf (2-3 feet tall) sunflower plants. I put them in pots and have them near my house. Well, HAD them near my house. I went out to water earlier today and the $%^)%$ squirrels had removed all the heads. I was going to take a picture and do some bragging, however, they are all gone except for the stalks which look pretty darn sad sitting in my pots. It is not a good idea to really get mad at the squirrels because they ALWAYS win. They are fast, can climb a tree at 50 mph. Then they just sit up there and chatter/laugh at you.

The article this week is the result of my studying. I probably spend a minimum of 5-8 hours a week reading and studying people that I admire. I find out what they are thinking and what helped them to be successful in their lives. And one of the ideas struck me as absolutely true and I wanted to share my thoughts on it.

I hope all your squirrels are less precocious than mine.

Creating your successful roadmap with coaching is something you will definitely want to consider if you want to become an influential person in your career. Your career and entire business can be supported engaging in coaching. As an influential and successful leader, you take steps to implement your roadmap details. Here are just a few steps that are important to consider in designing your roadmap:

• YOU - rest, nutrition, sleep, exercise, positive environment and people. You are always first on your list so you can have the stamina and strength to really live your roadmap.

• GOALS & DREAMS - You can have whatever it is that you want as long as you write it down and dream about it. Visualization is a powerful tool - it is the imagination without restriction. Write down your dreams and make them into goals. Do you know that only 5% of the people in the world write down their dreams and goals? Do it for you. It will help you explode your goals into real success and results.

• SUPPORT - They say that you are "sum total of the 5 people you are around the most". Maybe it is time to upgrade and reconsider who the people are in your environment. The people who support you need to listen to you, care about you, challenge you and then pick you up when you fall. Find people who easily and willingly support your goals and dreams. Most likely they are dreamers and goal producing people too!

You success is within inches of your grasp. Inches!! Think of that.

Your next steps in developing your roadmap are to have a loving conversation with YOU. Then get busy dreaming, visualizing and just "what iffing".

Then write down your goals and carry them with you everywhere. I have mine in my blue 3 ring notebook tucked under my arm wherever I go.

And sometimes I get scared that the dream and goal is too big. That is when I call my coach and talk it through. It's the best gift I've ever given myself.

So call me. Let me be a resource to your dreams and goals. I'd love to be your coach.

The Ad Federation (an international association) had their 7th District Leadership Conference this last weekend which included 5 southern states. I was invited to be their lunch keynote speaker detailing "The Roadmap to Success" and then do our "Delivering Difficult Information Successfully" breakout session that afternoon.
