Goals. Outcomes. Strategies. Plans. Tactics. Decisions.
Directions.
By: Natalie R. Manor, CEO
2009 is almost here and you are being told that
you must be totally ready for hitting the first of the year completely
clear about your goals and direction for the entire year.
Well, I am going to be the one that says DON’T
DO IT alone.
“Good Lord Natalie, you are
an executive coach that helps people define and refine their
goals and move toward creating sustainable results and huge
successes in their lives.” |
Yes, I am. And I still want to be known for that.
And I want you to be successful. And I want you to be clear about
the results you want to create. And And And.
The process I want you to use is just a bit different
than the high pressure, do it now and get it right so you have a
roadmap to follow to the minute detail for the entire year.
I only want you to ask yourself the following questions.
-
Is what I am doing
making me happy and am I being effective doing it?
If not, what would make me happy and effective?
Then make a list of what would make you happy and
effective and do more of that.
I think what might be on your list could be:
- Time off
- Spending thinking time thinking rather than worrying
- Enjoying yourself with favorites like reading, gardening, golf,
etc.
- More organized and better use of time so you can trust yourself
as you work
- Decluttering your desk or kitchen table on a daily basis so
you can find what you need (that is one I struggle with myself)
- Contributing yourself to church, community, family, world peace,
water shortages – whatever tugs at your heart
Yes, I know. You don’t have time now to take
a breath to even consider creating a life of ease and less stress.
Well, you know what? It is time that you take you into consideration
first.
Cheryl Richardson calls it Extreme Self Care. I
call it thriving rather than surviving.
If this past year, 2008, felt too fast, too stressful
and too much of what you did not get done rather than being really
clear how great you are…then it is time to do what it is that
will make you happy, stress free and in the mode to THRIVE.
My motto for 2009 is: 2009
is going to be just wonderfully Fine.
Count your blessings and be grateful. What if you
made a list right now of what is good and working. By the way, you
all are on my list of what is good and I am grateful for. If you
had food today, a place to sleep and money in your pocket, you are
better off than 97% of the world.
My partial gratitude list:
- Today I heard from an old friend who told me
she loved me and missed me
- My first born child shared a recipe with me
- I have a hot date for New Years Eve
- I’ve been invited to be the keynote speaker
for the annual Homebuilders Gala and they want me to be motivational
and inspirational – what an opportunity to think about
blessings
- My new puppy will be in my house the first week
in January
- My holiday shopping is done – very, very
unusual for me this early
- My gutters have not overflowed into my basement this fall
- The new water heater in my furnace room is paid for and it works
well
- Anne my across the street neighbor could not wait and brought
over my present today
- The sit-ups I did last night did not in fact kill me
The New Year will arrive as it always does. I want
you to arrive with it with delight and hope and less stress. And
then we can plan our strategy call together!
You are hereby given permission to take care of
you and find out what is most important to you and make a list,
do more of it and then apply that joy to planning your goals and
results. It will make ALL of the difference in the world.
Be well. Peace.
It is my sincere prayer that PEACE
and JOY be with You and Yours
this Holiday Season.
