Note from Natalie

Spring is the Time for Growth

Everything in my yard is growing like weeds – Tennessee is finally getting the rain it deserves. My garden, flowers and veggies got me to thinking about how we need to provide a great environment for us to really grow and succeed.

By the way, I am the luckiest Mother in the world. I received best wishes from my wonderful girls, son-in-law’s, neighbors, and a message from my church. Our family tradition/celebration each Mother’s Day has always been to work in my yard with me planting my garden. And each year my requested Mom’s Day gift has been well composted manure. My girls and I have enjoyed many years together weeding beds, hauling stuff and listening me wax eloquently about how great the garden would be “this” year.

Yup, I got the composted manure and a great day in the yard. A mommy sparrow graced me with raising her family in a large shrub right there in my front yard. On Saturday, there were six eggs in the nest and they all hatched on Sunday. Now she is working hard to feed those hungry baby sparrows. Six babies…Wow!

The article this week is about what you needed successful professional and profitable growth.

What Do You Need for Successful Professional and Profitable Growth?

By: Natalie R. Manor, CEO

Do you get lost in the clutter of “what to do first” because there are thousands of things you “could” or “should” do?

The best strategy for professional and profitable growth is to plan your near term, short term and long term goals/outcomes. When I say “plan” I mean that your goals/outcomes can be completed in a way that is reasonable for you, serves you and that excites/motivates you. Do you see the theme developing?

I hear repeatedly from my clients that each day they discover more and more about themselves through their coaching. What they find out is that they are talented, articulate and success oriented people who are not, repeat NOT, working in their strengths.

Having a “to do” list is not planning. It is a to do list and it is never, ever complete. The idea of having a “to do” list is frustrating to those of us who need completion because the list is never done.

However, developing yourself, your business, and your dreams, when artfully considered and put in priority of the steps to take to achieve completion, now that is satisfying!

Near term goals/outcomes to consider and detail for yourself (I suggest you write your answers down or type them out):

  • What are my strengths and talents?
NOTE: If you’ve never done this analysis before, we can help you with a terrific assessment. It will provide you with interesting and vital leadership and communication information about yourself. Interested? Send an email to Success@NatalieManor.com

  • What am I doing? I know this sounds weird, but when was the last time you actually detailed what you are doing? You will find that much of what you are doing is not even necessary; could be done by someone else; is not fun/relevant/valuable/results producing.

  • What should I actually be doing based on my talents and strengths? Ah ha! Now we are getting somewhere.

Now that you know what your talents and strengths are and you know what you are doing and you know what you should be doing, you can plan the real short term goals to get you to your real life.

Short term goals/outcomes to consider and detail (Again, I suggest you do this exercise in writing):

  • What classes/courses would I like to take to support my talents and strengths? Do some research, Google, ask, interview and generally open up that opportunity to really enhance your talents and strengths.

  • What habits do I have that are and are not serving me? As you analyze your life and talents, pick 2-4 habits that you want to be aware of or change. They could include sleep patterns, exercise, nutrition, socializing, writing, dancing, finding a coach or mentor. Take this action for you.

  • How much time am I spending with myself? Shutting off the outside noise and going inside you is important. Each day spend time in silence. At first it is almost impossible to turn off the noise of the world, however, silence is where “the great things are fashioned”. Be still and listen to the silence. There is much there to learn from and grow.

  • How often do you participate in things that you truly love? Reconnect to those things that give you pleasure, provide safety or are just plain fun. For example: I got a puppy this year and even though she is a leaky thing, I cannot imagine life without her. She has reminded me how much I am not in control of the world and how really simple and delightful an evening walk can be. She even brings me the leash now – I am almost trained.

Long term goals/outcomes to consider and detail – this is the scary part:

  • What is it that you want, desire, and/or long for? This is the dream area. Write it all down. Nothing is too impossible. Just write it down, roll it around in your head and allow that talented person called you to revisit the dream.

  • What are the steps you need to take to get to what you want, desire and/or long for? Alan Weiss says, “If you only make a 1% change each day, 30 days from now you have made a 30% shift and change."

  • What method can you use to best support yourself in making these changes?
Bob Proctor has a daily motivational message. Rich German does a 5-6 minute daily meditation at no cost. Phil Humbert has a wonderful weekly newsletter that will enrich your mind and heart. (See the NMA Recommends section below for another great resource just for you!)

  • Just do it! Nike has it right. Get up each day with your list of opportunities to tap into the possibilities that you as a talented, smart, delightful, results producing human have in front of you.

Whether you are in your short term, near term or long term development cycle, remember to always be grateful.

“We are lucky beyond time and measure, to be in such exquisite company…of ourselves."

NMA is going into its mid-year strategy review for near term, short term and long term goals and outcomes during the last week in May. Wish us the best. Do remember, we would be honored to help you with your goals and outcomes. It is our mission to be a resource to all that need our talents and strengths.

Our new friend, Darla Arni!

Natalie Hoffmann and I have the distinct pleasure of interacting with many people and organizations with varied talents and strengths as we present all over this great nation. One such person is
Darla Arni. We met Darla at the KCUA Annual State Conference in Topeka, KS where we were both presenting.

Darla shows people how creativity and personal responsibility can change the world by positively effecting perceptions, attitudes, and relationships. She values people and believes her friendships are one of her best strengths.

She encourages everyone to practice “The Art of Being Still” by taking five minutes each day to clear your mind of negative messages and be physically still, thus allowing the clarity of purpose, focused productivity and peace into your work and relationships.

Please feel free to visit Darla’s website http://www.DarlaArni.com. Darla’s monthly newsletter, blog and website are a great resource to you as are developing your near term, short term and long term goals.
