Summer
is a Great Time for Planning
Summer is a great time
for planning and getting to those projects you just
can’t seem to get to any other time during the year.
Last week, the NMA team did a major planning retreat
at my beautiful home here in TN. The reason for the
retreat was to get together and do our mid-year review.
What an amazing week! I am blessed to have such a great
team of dedicated professionals surrounding me.
Out of our mid-year review
came some really exciting ideas that we are now in the
process of developing. Our highest priority at NMA is
to be of service to business leaders and professionals
who want to maximize their potential and increase their
productivity (and profits). As a result of our mid-year
review, we are actually developing two new programs,
just for you, based on your wants and needs in this
changing market place. I can’t wait to share them with
you so keep your eyes and your ears open for more details
about these two new programs in upcoming newsletters!
On a completely different
note…for those of you who have not been to a Dairy Queen
drive-thru with a miniature doxie, I highly recommend
it. Talk about well behaved. She gets two inches of
vanilla ice cream in a little bowl if she does not bark.
In just two trips, she has learned that the ice cream
is worth her silence. There must be lots of people getting
ice cream for their dogs because the drive-thru people
did not think my “doggie ice cream order” was odd.
To Your Success,

It’s halfway through 2009…are you on track to achieve
your goals for this year?
If you answered “no” to the question above don’t feel
badly…you aren’t alone! I get phone calls every
week from business professionals, just like you, who
want and need help creating and being held accountable
to their desired goals and outcomes. The problem
isn’t that they don’t know what they want, they definitely
do. The problem is that they don’t where to begin
or what next step to take? This is where I can
help you!
Since 1993, I’ve
personally coached hundreds of business professionals,
managers, leaders, and executives to achieve powerful
and profitable results in their professional and
personal lives...and I can do the same for you, too.
When you sign up for your
50-minute Strategy Session with me, you’ll receive
personal, one-on-one coaching directly with me. These
sessions are packed (so packed that I’ll record the
calls for you because there is no way you can take notes
fast enough)!
In your personal
Strategy Session you’ll get:
**Tips, techniques and
strategies for your next best steps
**A very clear
understanding of how make the most of your time with the
least amount of work
**Laser focus on what you
want, how you want to get it
So, if you're serious
about maximizing your potential and increasing your
productivity, then sign up for your one-on-one laser
Strategy Session with me right now.
(I limit the number of
Strategy Sessions I do in a month - so if you want
to get in soon, please follow the link below and sign up
to reserve the next available seat coming up.)

From
Fear-Based Communication to Confident Results
By: Natalie R.
Manor, CEO
Communicating difficult
information can sometimes invoke real fear. I find
that people at all levels of leadership are embarrassed by their lack
of confidence or their fear in communicating information
that their people need in order to improve their performance.
Not being able to communicate
based on fear indicates that you probably have not thought
through the outcome that you want to achieve by having
the conversation. Have you waited longer than you wanted
to pass on the information this person needs in order
to improve their performance or to just “stop” doing
something that is not working?
Here are some Red
Flags to help you recognize when
you have a communication issue:
- You are afraid that the work flow
will be interrupted by having the conversation
- Someone’s “feelings” will be hurt
and they will become emotional
- Your attitude has become part
of the problem
- You are irritated or filled with
trepidation about the situation
The first step in solving
this communication issue is to discover the reason why
you are delaying giving someone information they NEED
in order to perform well. Understand that once you establish
the reason for the conversation and clearly detail what
you want from the situation your fear of moving
forward will begin to diminish.
Knowing where you are and
knowing where you want to go provides you with direction
and confidence.
Provide yourself with a
forum for approaching any situation with clarity by
asking yourself the following questions before you have
a difficult conversation:
- What is the situation
that we are dealing with?
- What outcomes do I
want from this conversation?
- What examples do I
have to share with this person
so they can understand their behavior?
- Is there a timeline for measuring or reviewing
the behavior after the conversation?
- Are there consequences that need to be discussed
and documented?
- Is there anything
else that I need to prepare in order to have a clear
conversation, even though it may be difficult to
have?
When you prepare for a
difficult situation, you provide a space for yourself
and others to be able to understand and listen. This
understanding and listening assists you in removing the
emotion and providing clarity around your desired outcomes.
Good clear outcomes help you to deliver the information
so that you are in rapport with the other person. When
you are in rapport, even in a difficult situation, you
are able to create and sustain trust and respect.
As a result of following this model you will move from
fear based communication to creating confident results
for yourself and others.
